I’m supposed to be working on the kinematic diagram of our machine and the report of the Final Year Project. But it’s 23:30 and I’m too exhausted. I’m an early bird and hardly have my way with night time. And the day was specially full of events and quite stressful for Partner, which affects me.
Some fifteen minutes ago when we were back from the coffee shop where we’re used to working together, I told myself that if I do my laundry and still feel sleepy afterwards, I can go to bed. But now, I’m too exhausted and a bit sleepy. Maybe I should take the opportunity to actually work but nuuuuu! I’d rather gather stuff I’ll take back to Casablanca tomorrow and think about Kate Covington’s voice.
And also blog, perhaps, about Kate Covington.
I’m currently listening to her covers on the loop since the afternoon. Her voice has a softening effect on my mood. The lyrics she writes are always beautiful and simple and meaningful. Her celtic-world style and her chorale composing are of a natural charm that easily appeals to me.
But then again, I wouldn’t expect less from a self-producing songwriter/player/singer that plays RPG games and has an iridescent adoration for Nobuo Uematsu. This is how I got to discover her by-the-by! One day, I was caught with my Nobuo fever and was as usual browsing up on Youtube acoustic covers, when I came across a song written on the melodies of You’re Not Alone. The lyrics and the voice struck me so deep that I went through all the stuff of that KateTheGreat19 and since then, I’m a loyal fan of ERUTAN and wait for the opportunity to buy her first album Raindancer, totally self-produced, would it be for the music or the art booklet! But what makes me like this album is the way every song is deeply rooted into something. This “impression végétale” is more than enough to get me hooked.
Recently, Erutan, A.K.A. Kate, has made a little piece of art for the DRAGON NEST – SEA / The Eternal Path, Song Of The Goddess, and I can’t stop listening over and over and over and over again.
I f I have to pick a favorite, I couldn’t. I just don’t think of one right away. Her tribute to Aerith is magnificent. I’ll Follow You Into The Dark made me drop some tears and made my friends cry. You’re Not Alone is a classic of my playlist and Stella Voci’s chorale is all over my music files.
But, there’s a song I’ve learnt quickly and I like to sing to myself from time to time. It’s also the beautiful present I wish I could give in some way or another to my friends. Finally, it’s playing on the notes of Chrono Trigger which is a wild joyful classic for me.
Aaaaaand I’M AWAKE!
